Rush Live In Atlantic City, Trump Taj Mahal July 4th
Jul 4, 2008
Rush played at the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City on July 4, 2008. According to Geddy, this was the first time they have ever played on the 4th of July.I was lucky enough (?) to be in Ocean City, NJ for the 4th this year as usual, visiting my in-laws. While out for a cup of coffee on July 3rd, I heard a radio ad announcing Rush would be playing in Atlantic City, just 20 minutes north of us.
When I got back to the shore house, I told my wife that we should go, to which she said she already saw Rush this year. I said I couldn't understand that and would she mind if I went by myself. At that point she thought for a minute and said, 'Well, it always is fun and I like Geddy Lee."
With that behind me, I launched my browser and bought tickets from an online ticket monopoly which I am usually not happy with. In any case, I purchased two floor tickets for what appeared to be the back right corner of the floor. Not great, but what can you expect for the day before.
The next day came and like any good American's we BBQ'd and drank beer. My father in law said he would be happy to drive us to the casino and was sure we could get a cab home. Of course my sister in law and her boyfriend decided it would be fun to go to the casino and Hard Rock Cafe, so off we went.
Imagine my surprise when I discovered that the floorplan shown online was wrong. We were right center on the floor in front of Geddy in row 9. How about them apples!?! Geddy, Alex and Neil were great. Geddy announced how proud they were to be playing on America's birthday, 'Happy Birthday America'. The first time they ever played on the 4th of July. During the encore, Neil's ever present skullcap, which always promotes the current tour, was changed to an American flag.
I have the setlist and will post it in the next couple of days. I also have a bunch of short 60 second video clips which I will also upload when I have a few minutes.
So Happy 4th and Happy Rush Concert!
UPDATE - July 15
